The J.I. Case 885 is equipped with one of two engines: a 2.7 L (164.4 cu·in) three-cylinder diesel engine or a 2.4 L (146.1 cu·in) three-cylinder gasoline engine and a partially synchronized transmission with 12 forward and 4 reverse gears.

  • David Brown. It is a 2.4 L, 2,394 cm2, (146.1 cu·in) three-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine. The cylinder bore is 100.0 mm (3.94 in) and the piston stroke is 102.0 mm (4.02 in). The compression ratio rating is 6.75:1.
