The Ford 2000 is a 2WD utility tractor manufactured by Ford in Highland Park, Michigan, USA from 1962 to 1975. The first generation was manufactured from 1962 to 1965, the second generation from 1965 to 1975.
The second generation of the Ford 2000 is equipped with one of two engines: a 2.6 L (158.0 cu·in) three-cylinder gasoline engine or a 2.6 L (158.0 cu·in) three-cylinder diesel engine and four variants of transmission.
The Ford 2000 used manual or power (optional) steering, differential mechanical expanding shoe brakes, open operator station and 49.2 liters (13.0 US gal.; 10.8 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
The tractor could be equipped with the following engines:
- Ford gasoline engine. It is a 2.6 L, 2,588 cm2, (158.0 cu·in) three-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine with 106.7 mm (4.2 in) of the cylinder bore and 96.0 mm (3.78 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 7.75:1. This engine produced 36.4 PS (26.8 kW; 36.0 HP) at 1,900 rpm (early) or 2,000 rpm (later) of maximum output power and 139.3 Nm (14.21 kg·m; 102.8 lbf·ft) at 1,350 rpm of peak torque.
- Ford diesel engine. It is a 2.6 L, 2,588 cm2, (158.0 cu·in) three-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 106.7 mm (4.2 in) and the piston stroke is 96.0 mm (3.78 in). The compression ratio rating is 17.5:1. This engine produced 36.4 PS (26.8 kW; 36.0 HP) at 2,000 rpm of maximum output power and 143.2 Nm (14.61 kg·m; 105.68 lbf·ft) of peak torque.
Transmission variants:
- 4-speed: unsynchronized gear type transmission with dry disc clutch. This transmission has 4 forward and 1 reverse gears (forward speed: 6.4-23.8 kmh, 4.0-14.8 mph, reverse speed: 6.8 kmh, 4.2 mph). Tractor must be stopped before shifting. The 4-speed transmission uses the ESN-M2C77A or M-4864-A oil type, trasmission oil capacity is 6.2 liters (6.55 US.qts, 5.46 Imp. qts).
- 6-speed: unsynchronized gear type transmission with dry disc clutch with cerametallic buttons. This transmission has 6 forward and 2 reverse gears (forward speed: 2.3-28.0 kmh, 1.4-17.4 mph, reverse speed: 3.9-11.3 kmh, 2.4-7.0 mph). Three speeds and reverse in two ranges. The 6-speed variant was only available with transmission PTO.
- 8-speed: unsynchronized gear type transmission with dry disc clutch. This transmission has 8 forward and 2 reverse gears (forward speed: 2.6-28.0 kmh, 1.6-17.4 mph, reverse speed: 3.9-13.5 kmh, 2.4-8.4 mph). Four-speed gear selector on left, high-low range select lever on right. Tractor must be stopped before shifting. A Live PTO was optionally available with the 8-speed transmission. The 8-speed transmission uses the ESN-M2C77A or M-4864-A oil type, trasmission oil capacity is 12.5 liters (13.21 US.qts, 11.0 Imp. qts).
- 12-speed: unsynchronized gear type transmission with over/under lever and dry disc clutch. This transmission has 12 forward and 3 reverse gears (forward speed: 4.3-35.4 kmh, 2.7-22.0 mph, reverse speed: 4.5-10.1 kmh, 2.8-6.3 mph). Over/under located to the left of the shift lever. Tractor must be stopped before shifting. This transmission uses the
ESN-M2C77A or M-4864-A oil type, trasmission oil capacity is 6.6 liters (7.0 US.qts, 5.8 Imp. qts).
