John Deere 425The John Deere 425 is a 2WD lawn and garden tractor from the 400 series of the John Deere lawn tractors. It has a V-twin 90° liquid-cooled 4-stroke Kawasaki FD620D (617 cc, 37.7) horizontal PTO-shaft engine and hydrostatic transmission. The John Deere 425 garden tractor was manufactured in Horicon, Wisconsin, USA from 1992 to 2001.

The John Deere 425 tractor used a V-twin 90° liquid-cooled four-stroke Kawasaki FD620D-AS02 gasoline engine with horizontal PTO shaft. The FD620D has OHV (overhead valve design); cast iron cylinder liners; twin barrel carburetor; electromagnetic in-line fuel pump; full transistor ignition system with fixed timing; dual stage air cleaner; mechanical governor; pressure feed lubrication system with positive displacement pump.

Bore and stroke are 76.0 mm (2.99 in) and 68.0 mm (2.68 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 9.0:1. The Kawasaki FD620D-AS02 develops 20 HP (14.9 kW) at 3,500 rpm of maximum horsepower.

The John Deere 425 lawn tractor is equipped with Tuff Torq K91 hydrostatic transmission (infinite forward and reverse gears), power steering (four-wheel steering was available as an option) and wet disc brakes. This tractor used open operator station. The JD 425 also features an electric starter, independent front and rear PTO-shafts with a hydraulic clutch and a 6.5-gallon (24.6 L) fuel tank.
