John Deere 55The John Deere 55 is a riding lawn mower with small single cylinder Tecumseh V50 engine (199 cc, 12.17 cu-in) and belt-driven gear transmission with two forward and one reverse gear. The John Deere 55 lawn mower was produced from 1970 to 1972.

The John Deere 55 used an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine with vertical PTO shaft and recoil starter. The engine has a 66.7 mm (2.62 in) of the cylinder bore and 57.0 mm (2.25 in) of the piston stroke. The Tecumseh V50 engine produces 5.0 HP (3.7 kW). The oil type is 10W-30, and the oil capacity is 0.81 L. The spark plug is Champion RJ8C.

The chassis is 4×2 (2WD) and has a belt-driven gear transmission with two forward and one reverse gears. The mower deck is mid-mount and has one blade, with a deck size of 66 mm (26 in.).

The JD 55 is equipped with manual steering, operator station and independent middle PTO with mechanical clutch.
