The John Deere S240 is a lawn and garden tractor. The John Deere S240 garden tractor has been produced at the John Deere Horicon Works plant (Horicon, Wisconsin, USA) since 2015.
The John Deere S240 used a 90 degrees V-twin design Kawasaki FS600V (603 cc, 36.8 cu.in.) engine with vertical PTO shaft. This engine has overhead V-valves, cast iron cylinder liners, and a spherical combustion chamber. The engine is equipped with the electronic spark ignition system, internally vented carburetor with fuel shut-off solenoid, rotating grass chopper screen, integrated clean out ports. The motor uses a high-performance lubrication system and dual-element air filter. It has a 73.0 mm (2.87 in) cylinder bore and 72.0 mm (2.83 in) piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 8.1:1. This engine produced 18.8 PS (13.8 kW; 18.5 HP) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower.
The John Deere S240 is equipped with the Tuff Torq K46DP belt-driven hydrostatic transmission (infinite forward and reverse) and manual steering. This tractor used open operator station, independent PTO-shaft with electric clutch and 9.0 L (2.4 US gal) fuel tank.
