The Allis Chalmers D17 is a 2WD row-crop tractor from the D series. This tractor was manufactured by Allis Chalmers in West Allis, Wisconsin, USA from 1957 to 1967. The Allis Chalmers D17 is equipped with one of two engines: a 3.7 L four-cylinder gasoline engine or 4.3 L diesel engine and partial power shift transmission with 8 forward and 2 reverse gears.
The Allis Chalmers D17 is equipped with manual or power (option) steering, open operator station and 72.0 liters (19 US gal.; 15.8 Imp. gal) fuel tank for gasoline/diesel version or 84.4 liters (22.3 US gal, 18.6 Imp. gal) for LP-gas version.
The tractor could be equipped with the following engines:
- Allis-Chalmers gasoline / LP-gas engine. It is a 3.7 L, 3,703 cm2, (226.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine with 102.0 mm (4.02 in) of the cylinder bore and 114.0 mm (4.49 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 7.25:1 for gasoline version or 8.25:1 for LP-gas version. The gasoline version of this engine produced 63.9 PS (47.0 kW; 63.0 HP) at 1,650 rpm of output power.
- Allis Chalmers diesel engine. It is a 4.3 L, 4,293 cm2, (262.0 cu·in) six-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 90.0 mm (3.54 in) and the piston stroke is 111.0 mm (4.37 in). The compression ratio rating is 15.7:1. This engine produced 61.9 PS (45.5 kW; 61.0 HP) at 1,650 rpm of maximum output power.
