The International Harvester 284 is a 2WD or 4WD compact utility tractor manufactured by Komatsu in Japan for distributor International Harvester from 1976 to 1984.
The International Harvester 284 is equipped with one of two engines: a 1.2 L (71.3 cu·in) four-cylinder gasoline engine or a 1.6 L (99.0 cu·in) four-cylinder diesel engine and sliding gear transmission with 8 forward and 2 reverse gears and with dry disc clutch.

- Nissan. It is a 1.6 L, 1,622 cm2, (99.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 83.0 mm (3.27 in) and the piston stroke is 100.0 mm (3.94 in). This engine produced 30.5 PS (22.4 kW; 30.0 HP) at 2,600 rpm of output power.
The IH 284 is equipped with manual steering, hydraulic wet disc brakes, open operator station, or two-post ROPS with canopy (optional), and 33.0 liters (8.7 US gal.; 7.3 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
