The International Harvester 404 is a 2WD utility tractor manufactured by International Harvester in Louisville, Kentucky, USA from 1961 to 1968. The International 404 is equipped with a 2.2 L (135.0 cu·in) four-cylinder gasoline/LP-gas engine and one of three transmissions: a transmission with 4 forward and 1 reverse gears, a transmission with 8 forward and 2 reverse gears or a manual shuttle transmission with 4 forward and 4 reverse gears.
The International 404 utility tractor used the International Harvester C-135 engine. It is a 2.2 L, 2,212 cm2, (135.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline/LP-gas engine with 83.0 mm (3.27 in) of the cylinder bore and 103.0 mm (4.06 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 7.7:1 (gasoline version) or 8.0:1 (LP-gas). The gasoline version of this engine produced 37.3 PS (27.4 KW; 36.7 HP) at 2,000 rpm of PTO output power, the LP-gas version produced 33.5 PS (24.6 KW; 33.0 HP) at 2,000 rpm.
The IH 404 is equipped with manual or power (option) steering, differential mechanical disc brakes, open operator station, and 61.3 liters (16.2 US gal.; 13.5 Imp. gal) fuel tank. This tractor could be equipped with the International Harvester 2001 loader.
