2002 List price $19,000, with tax. Bought new. 4WD. Rear hydraulic remotes added by tapping off the front bucket port attachment. 6 foot mowing deck; This machine was puchased to replace a 1985 model year compact Kubota. Slower than Kubota. 4010 has a significant smaller hydraulic pump than a JD4100. But it would have meant an extra purchase price of $3000. Mower deck difficult to remove, because tires are too low by about 2″; so Mower Gear box gets caught on frame when removing mower deck. Hydraulic lines vibrate and are a wear point along frame. Starter began failing after 15 years; but is extremely difficult to remove. L.H rear motor mount in the way for removing lower starter mounting bolt. Exhaust manifold gasket now failed after 23 years. Operator station floor too low & touches the mid mount PTO yoke when weight placed on operator floor. Screen filter in front of radiator needs cleaning before every use. JD should have engineered a better way to protect the radiator. Hood over engine poorly designed; this is a wear item & costs $500. Newer machines (2025R ) have moved the fuel cover to the fender, which is worse. 3 point hitch arms use a screw style tightener; inefficient when connecting rear tools. The 3pth screw tighteners require regular replacement.
