The Kubota M5040 is a 2WD or 4WD utility tractor from the M series. This tractor was manufactured by the Kubota from 2007 to 2010. The Kubota M5040 is equipped with a 3.1 L four-cylinder diesel engine and one of two transmissions: synchronized shuttle transmission with 8 forward and 8 reverse gears or power shuttle transmission with 8 forward and 8 reverse gears. The Kubota M5040 could be also equipped with creeper (12 forward and 12 reverse gears).

The Kubota M5040 is equipped with hydrostatic power steering, multiple wet discs brakes, open operator station with two-post ROPS or Cab with air-conditioning (option) and 70.0 liters (18.5 US gal.; 15.4 Imp. gal) fuel tank for ROPS version or 110.0 liters (29.1 US gal, 24.2 Imp. gal) fuel tank for Cab version.
