Farmall 340The Farmall 340 is a 2WD row-crop tractor manufactured by Farmall (a part of International Harvester) in Rock Island, Illinois, USA from 1958 to 1963.

The Farmall 340 is equipped with one of two engines: a 2.2 L (135.0 cu·in) four-cylinder gasoline engine or a 2.7 L (166.0 cu·in) four-cylinder diesel engine and one of two transmissions: a sliding gear with dry disc clutch transmission with 5 forward and 1 reverse gears or a partial power shift with dry disc clutch transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse gears.

The tractor could be equipped with the following engines:

  • International Harvester C-135. It is a 2.2 L, 2,212 cm2, (135.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine with 83.0 mm (3.27 in) of the cylinder bore and 103.0 mm (4.06 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 7.6:1. This engine produced 47.6 PS (35.0 kW; 46.9 HP) at 2,000 rpm of output power.
  • International Harvester D-166. It is a 2.7 L, 2,720 cm2, (166.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 94.0 mm (3.7 in) and the piston stroke is 98.0 mm (3.86 in). The compression ratio rating is 19.2:1. This engine produced 47.6 PS (35.0 kW; 46.9 HP) at 2,000 rpm of output power.

The Farmall 340 is equipped with manual steering, differential mechanical dry disc brakes, an open operator station, and 58.0 liters (15.3 US gal.; 12.8 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
