The John Deere 112L tractor used an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke Kawasaki FB460V gasoline engine with vertical PTO shaft. The FB460V engine has an L-head design with two valves; transistorized flywheel magneto ignition system; float type carburetor with fixed main jet and mechanical governor. Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 89.0 mm (3.5 in) and 74.0 mm (2.91 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 6.4:1. The Kawasaki FB460V motor produced 12.5 HP (9.3 kW) at 3,600 rpm and 28.0 Nm (2.8 kg·m, 20.1 ft·lb) at 2,300 rpm of torque.
