The John Deere 56 is a riding lawn mower with small single cylinder Tecumseh V60 engine (221 cc, 13.5 cu-in) and belt-driven gear transmission with two or three forward and one reverse gear. The John Deere 56 lawn mower was produced from 1970 to 1974.
The John Deere 56 used an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine with vertical PTO shaft and electric or recoil starter. The engine has a 66.7 mm (2.62 in) of the cylinder bore and 63.5 mm (2.5 in) of the piston stroke. The Tecumseh V60 engine produces 6.1 PS (4.5 KW; 6.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm.
The lawn tractor has 11×4.0-5 front tires and 4.8×4.0-8 rear tires. It has a 4×2 (2WD) chassis and a manual steering system. The transmission type is belt-driven gear transmission with two forward and one reverse gear (T2041) or three forward and one reverse gear (T2042).
