The John Deere LX280 is a lawn and garden tractor from the John Deere LX200-series. The John Deere LX280 garden tractor was produced at the John Deere Horicon Works plant (Horicon, Wisconsin, USA) from 2004 to 2005. This tractor was available all-wheel steering version: LX280AWS.
The John Deere LX280 lawn tractor used a V-twin 90° liquid-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion Kawasaki FH580V 0.59 l (585 cc, 35.7 cu-in) gasoline engine with vertical PTO-shaft. The FH580V has cast iron cylinder liners and overhead V-valves. The engine is equipped with inner vent carburetor; pulse fuel pump and electronic spark ignition system. The motor uses a full pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter and paper element air cleaner with foam pre-cleaner.
It has a 74.0 mm (2.91 in) cylinder bore and 68.0 mm (2.68 in) piston stroke. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The Kawasaki FH580V produced 18.0 HP (13.4 kW) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower.
The John Deere LX280 is equipped with Tuff Torq K62 belt-driven hydrostatic transmission (infinite forward and reverse), internal wet disc brakes, and open sector and pinion steering. This tractor used open operator station, independent PTO-shaft with electric clutch and 11.5 L (3.0 US gal) fuel tank for LX280 model and 10.4 L (2.75 US gal) for LX280AWS.
