The John Deere X485 is a lawn and garden tractor from the John Deere X-series. The John Deere X485 garden tractor was manufactured on the factory in Horicon, Wisconsin, USA from 2002 to 2005.
The John Deere X485 is equipped with the Kawasaki FD711D EFI engine. The Kawasaki FD711D is a 745 cc, (45.5 cu-in) V-twin 90° liquid-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion small gasoline motor with horizontal shaft. The FD711D EFI has OHV (overhead valve design); cast-iron cylinder liners; multi-port fuel injection; high-pressure transistorized fuel pump; flywheel magneto transistor ignition system. Bore and stroke are 78.0 mm (3.07 in) and 78.0 mm (3.07 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 8.0:1. This engine produced 25.0 HP (18.6 kW) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower.
The John Deere X485 is equipped with the Tuff Torq K92 shaft-driven hydrostatic transmission (infinite forward and reverse), internal wet disc brakes and hydrostatic power steering (four-wheel steering on X475 AWS version). This tractor used open operator station, rear PTO-shaft and 24.6 L (6.5 US gal.) fuel tank.
