The compression ratio rating is 17.8:1. This engine produced 78.1 PS (57.4 kW; 77 HP) at 2,500 rpm of output power.
  • John Deere (with TSS transmission). It is a 3.9 L, 3,916 cm2, (239.0 cu·in) four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 106.0 mm (4.17 in) and the piston stroke is 110.0 mm (4.33 in).

The JD 2555 is equipped with power steering, differential hydraulic wet disc brakes, Roll-Gard ROPS, or Sound-Gard cab (available with TSS transmission as an option) and 84.0 liters (22.2 US gal.; 18.5 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
