  • John Deere LP-gas engine. It is a 1.9 L, 1,852 cm2, (113.0 cu·in) two-cylinder natural aspirated LP-gas engine. The cylinder bore is 108.0 mm (4.25 in) and the piston stroke is 102.0 mm (4.02 in).

The JD 420 is equipped with manual or power (optional) steering, open operator station and 39.7 liters (10.5 US gal.; 8.7 Imp. gal) fuel tank for gasoline version and 75.7 liters (20 US gal, 16.7 Imp. gal) for LP-gas version.
