This first generation was manufactured by John Deere in Pune, Maharashtra, India from 2008 to 2012. The John Deere 5065E is equipped with a 3.0 L (182.6 cu·in) three-cylinder diesel engine and one of two transmissions: the SyncReverser transmission with 9 forward and 3 reverse gears or the SyncShuttle transmission with 9 forward and 3 reverse gears.

The JD 5065E utility tractor used the John Deere PowerTech 3029H engine. It is a 3.0 L, 2,933 cm2, (179.0 cu·in) three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 106.0 mm (4.17 in) of the cylinder bore and 110.0 mm (4.33 in) of the piston stroke. This engine produced 66 PS (48.5 kW; 65.0 HP) at 2,400 rpm of output power and 240.0 N·m (24.5 kg·m, 176.9 ft·lb) at 1,700 rpm fo torque.

The John Deere 5065E is equipped with hydrostatic power steering, hydraulic wet disc brakes, folding 2-post ROPS, and 68.0 liters (18 US gal.; 15 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
