John Deere 5400The John Deere 5400 is a 2WD or 4WD utility tractor from the 5000 Utility series. This tractor was manufactured by John Deere in Augusta, Georgia, USA from 1992 to 1997. The JD 5400 is equipped with a 2.9 L (179.0 cu·in) three-cylinder diesel engine and one of three transmissions: an unsynchronized gear transmission with 9 forward and 3 reverse gears, a partially synchronized transmission with 9 forward and 3 reverse gears or a power shuttle transmission with 12 forward and 12 reverse gears.

The John Deere 5400 utility tractor used the John Deere engine. It is a 2.9 L, 2,933 cm2, (179.0 cu·in) three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 106.0 mm (4.17 in) of the cylinder bore and 110.0 mm (4.33 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 17.8:1. This engine produced 69.4 PS (51.0 kW; 68.4 HP) at 2,400 rpm of output power.

The JD 5400 is equipped with hydrostatic power steering, differential hydraulic wet disc brakes, two-post folding ROPS or cab with air-conditioning (optional), and 68.1 liters (18 US gal.; 15 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
