John Deere Unstyled D (1923-1939)The John Deere Unstyled D is a 2WD standard-tread tractor from the Two-Cylinder Letter series. This tractor was manufactured by John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, USA from 1923 to 1953. This first generation was manufactured from 1923 to 1939.

The John Deere model D is equipped with one of two engines: a 7.6 L (465.0 cu·in) two-cylinder all-fuel engine or an 8.2 L (501.0 cu·in) two-cylinder all-fuel engine and one of two transmissions: unsynchronized gear transmission with 2 forward and 1 reverse gear, used from 1923 to 1935, and unsynchronized gear transmission with 3 forward and 1 reverse gear, was introduced in 1935.

The tractor could be equipped with the following engines:

  • John Deere (1923-1927). It is a 7.6 L, 7,620 cm2, (465.0 cu·in) two-cylinder natural aspirated all-fuel engine with 165.0 mm (6.5 in) of the cylinder bore and 178.0 mm (7.01 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 3.91:1.
  • John Deere (1927-1939). It is a 8.2 L, 8,210 cm2, (501.0 cu·in) two-cylinder natural aspirated all-fuel engine. The cylinder bore is 171.0 mm (6.73 in) and the piston stroke is 178.0 mm (7.01 in). The compression ratio rating is 3.91:1.

The JD Unstyled D is equipped with manual steering, an open operator station, and 68.1 liters (18 US gal.; 15 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
